The former church and adjacent land site located at 1820 S. Leavitt Street in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood sold, having received multiple offers. Paul Cawthon and Angelo Labriola of the Cawthon-Labriola Group of SVN Chicago Commercial represented the Archdiocese of Chicago and were the sole brokers in the transaction. The 18,000-square-foot church, covering five Chicago lots, sold for $1,350,000.
The church had significant deferred maintenance and some environmental issues which were accounted for in the sales price. New ownership plans to retain the original structure to maintain the integrity of the site as it relates to the history in the neighborhood.
“The new ownership has significant ties to the area, having grown up nearby,” Labriola said. “It is extremely important to them to retain the original structure and significantly improve the interior of the building for the community to continue to enjoy, and be proud of, for generations to come.”
