The Missner Group and Realterm announced that the Chicago Stockyard, a speculative industrial project at 1032 W 43rd St. in Chicago, has been recognized as Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR projects meet strict energy efficiency design targets and are intended to create fewer greenhouse gas emissions and save money on energy bills over the lifetime of the building.
Matthew Strebe of Sustainable Energy Savings, Inc. helped the project pre-qualify and certify this achievement.
Commercial new construction projects can be recognized with EPA’s Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR by achieving an ENERGY STAR score of 75 or higher, which indicates the building is intended to perform among the top 25 percent of similar buildings nationwide. Once the building is occupied, owners can track its actual energy performance using EPA’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager tool and earn ENERGY STAR certification.
1032 W 43rd St. is a Class-A, 130,354-square-foot industrial development featuring 26 dock positions, 20 trailer stalls, two drive-in doors and parking for 276 cars.
Located in the Chicago stockyards, this building offers access to a wide labor pool and proximity to I-55, I-94 and downtown Chicago. It also offers 6b tax incentives and is located in Enterprise Zone 2 offering additional sales tax and utility tax exemptions.
The project completed construction in the third quarter of 2023. Only 51,301 square feet remain available for lease in the building.
