Chicagoland Property Management Summit: Focusing on an evolving industry

A crowd gathered to hear the latest trends in the local property management field.

The property management field has evolved. Today, property managers are trusted partners at the office, industrial, multifamily and retail developments that they help oversee.

The biggest names in the local property management field spoke at the Sept. 29 Chicagoland Property Management Summit about the changes that have hit the industry. They also spoke about the challenges facing property management firms today, the growth that this industry is still experiencing and what the future might look like for managers and their clients.

The event also provided plenty of opportunities for attendees to network and mingle with their fellow industry professionals.

Speaking during the opening session,  Effective & Efficient Property Operations Strategies, were property management pros ) Kirsten Bowersox, President, Xroads Real Estate Advisors, the panel’s moderator; Jonathan Swindle, President, Waveland Property Group, Inc.; Roger Daniel, president, Daniel Management Group; Lauren Fernandes, President and CEO, Confirmed Life Safety; and Ben Bischmann, SVP, National Operations/Property Management, Kurv Industrial.

Participating in the event’s second session, Value of Strong Property Management Practices, were moderator Lucas Schlemmer, Senior Vice President, Sterling Bay; Rebecca Cusack, Director, CBRE | Property Management; Tom Marsan, General Manager, Beverly Companies; Jillian Larkin, Vice President, Operations, Willow Bridge Property Company; and David Hopwood, Group Manager, JLL.

Wrapping up the summit with the Evolving Trends in Tenant Improvements panel were moderator Jeff Weinberg, President, Drexel Properties; Veronika Bocanova Diffley, Principal | Director of Landlord Services, Whitney Architects; Brian Keaty, Director of Property Management, Stream Realty Partners; Alexandria Borrego, Associate Director, Hiffman National; and Mark Ainley, Partner, GC Realty and Development.
