Chicago’s Cross Street incorporates Peak Properties into its national platform

Cross Street, a Chicago-based residential real estate firm, incorporated property management firm Peak Properties into its national platform.

Peak Properties will continue operating in Chicago as a trusted and independent brand as Cross Street leverages Peak’s resources and processes to launch its own management platform for mid- and high-rise multifamily communities across the country. The new structure adds property management to Cross Street’s comprehensive suite of services that help its clients buy, sell, rent, develop and invest in residential properties. Including the Peak units under management, Cross Street’s leasing and management portfolio will comprise nearly 12,000 apartments in Chicago, Denver and Cleveland.

“This is a true case of cross-pollination, where the combined strengths of Cross Street and Peak Properties create something more powerful than the sum of their individual parts,” said Shane Rachman, president of Cross Street. “By integrating Peak’s decades-long, Chicago-rooted management infrastructure with our creative leasing and marketing capabilities, Cross Street is laying the foundation to deliver holistic, full-stack services for owners and developers while positioning the company for continued long-term growth.”

The dual-brand approach will allow Cross Street to thoughtfully match owners with the management solution best suited to their asset type, investment strategy and operational needs while maintaining a consistent commitment to superior service. Supported by the same back-end platform, the structure is designed to create efficiencies and deliver cost savings for clients.

“This next chapter is a natural evolution for Peak Properties and represents an alignment of shared values,” said Mike Zucker, who founded Peak almost 30 years ago in the basement of a building on Chicago’s North Side.

Zucker will continue to work on the Chicago-based management portfolio, construction, business development, and investor and client relationships.

“Shane is my nephew and has spent the past 12 years in real estate, including starting his career with Peak and playing an integral role in growing the business,” said Zucker. “I could not be prouder to have worked with him over the years. Continuing to work with him and seeing him step into these shoes to grow both brands is a real joy.

“Shane learned the foundational skills that made Cross Street a success through years of working alongside our team, and his experience, vision and leadership make him the perfect person to bring Peak under the Cross Street umbrella, allowing our existing clients to continue utilizing our established platform without disruption while expanding Cross Street’s service offerings,” continued Zucker.

Built on operational insight, market expertise and a person-to-person approach, Cross Street has become one of the fastest-growing new real estate brands. The company’s recent momentum has earned it recognition on the 2024 and 2025 Inc. 5000 lists of America’s fastest-growing private companies.
