Gary Rabine, chief executive officer and founder of Schaumburg, Ill.-based the Rabine Group, has been selected as one of this year’s Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year finalists.

More than 1,700 entries were analyzed to decide the remaining finalists. On May 1, the finalists were announced, including Rabine.

The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards are recognized as one of the most prestigious business award programs in the country. They celebrate the most innovative business leaders in the United States. The award winners will be announced at the Ernst & Young Regional Galas in June.

Rabine started his entrepreneurial endeavors with a residential paving company after graduating high school. Equipped with old paving machines and business cards made by his sister, he started knocking on doors. What was once a small construction company is now a group of companies that uses cutting edge technology with world-class industry specific expertise and engineering.
