A new coffee shop is slated to open in the Des Plaines Metra Station this week. Owners, Gus Deoudes and John Grammatis, are bringing a local coffee concept to the neighborhood, fittingly named The Local Coffee Tea & Sweets. The shop will feature Chicago’s award-winning Metropolis Coffee and donuts from the acclaimed West Town Bakery. On-the-go snacks include: Greek yogurt, juices, fresh fruit, and oatmeal, to name a few. Their goal is to provide commuters and neighborhood residents with distinct coffee and refreshment options. Grammatis has been a fixture in the Des Plaines community, owning the popular Miner Street Tavern across the street for the past 5 years. The Local Coffee will serve neighbors, coffee lovers and commuters Monday through Friday from 6 AM to 1 PM.
