Coldwell Banker Commercial announced the launch of Coldwell Banker Commercial Carris Capital, a newly formed commercial real estate advisory firm led by Jim Carris, a Chicago-area professional with decades of industry and civic leadership.
Based in Libertyville, Illinois, the firm will serve downtown Chicago and its surrounding suburbs, extending throughout northern Illinois and into southern Wisconsin.
Carris is widely regarded as a leader in Chicago’s commercial real estate community, having held senior roles with firms including Colliers International, CBRE, and Jones Lang LaSalle. His expertise spans development, portfolio management, corporate real estate, and capital markets. Licensed as both a managing broker and an attorney in Illinois, Carris also holds the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation and was inducted into the Midwest Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame in 2022.
Carris holds a law degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, an executive MBA from the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, and a bachelor’s degree in political science with an economics concentration from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Beyond his professional work, he has served in leadership roles with organizations such as the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, the American Red Cross of Chicago and Northern Illinois, Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, The Goldie Initiative, and the City of Lake Forest Planning Commission. In 2024, he ran for Congress in Illinois’ 10th Congressional District, further reflecting his longstanding commitment to public service.
