The Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy (GTRLC) finalized its purchase of the former 166-acre Mitchell Creek Golf Course along Three Mile Road in Traverse City, Michigan. Colliers International|West Michigan and Three West, LLC made the announcement earlier this week.
“The greater Traverse City area is home to many environmental treasures that are a key part of Northern Michigan’s heritage, including this 166-acre parcel that is home to wetlands and natural habitats,” said Steve Poole, Colliers vice president, in a statement.
Situated just south of the East Bay, the former golf course is home to the Mitchell Creek watershed that feeds into Mitchell Creek and East Grand Traverse Bay, as well as wetlands, open land and forests. The nature preserve will be named Mitchell Creek Meadow Preserve. It will protect natural habitats and offer public recreation opportunities including new trails and bird watching. GTRLC will determine its timeline for preserving the land and renovating existing buildings on the property after completion of a feasibility study.
Poole, who joined Colliers in January, represented the seller Frederick A. Topus, Jr., in the transaction on behalf of his former brokerage firm Three West, LLC.
