Comcast on Feb. 15 announced the completion of a project to extend its advanced network infrastructure in Matteson, Illinois, making Comcast Business’ high-speed Internet and advanced telecommunication services to an industrial and business corridor along Cicero Avenue and Gateway Drive in Matteson, including to the Matte57 Commerce Center.

With the extension complete, businesses along the expansion route now have access to Comcast Business’s full suite of services, including Internet speeds up to 100 Gigabits per second (Gbps), Ethernet, Advanced Voice, Comcast Business Mobile, and a variety of cloud services.

Additional services include Connection Pro, an automatic 4G LTE backup connection to keep businesses running; SecurityEdge, a cloud-based cybersecurity solution that protects connected devices; and WiFi Pro, a mobile-friendly tool that allows businesses to manage customer- and internal-facing networks. The network in the area will enable Comcast Business to connect with new customers quickly.

Overall, Comcast has invested over $20 billion in the last five years to grow and evolve its expansive fiber-rich network nationwide across the company’s service footprint. It has invested more than $1.4 billion in its network in Illinois in the last three years alone.

Comcast has nearly 8,000 miles of fiber-rich network infrastructure in Cook County and offers gigabit+ Internet speeds to residential and business customers. In addition, the company has more than 600,000 WiFi hotspots in the county and 23 million nationwide. Comcast offers residential Internet speeds up to 1.2 Gbps across its service footprint in Cook County and nationally, regardless of zip code, and speeds up to 10 Gbps to homes in many locations.
