The owner of the building at 639 W. Main St. in Louisville has placed the historic property on the market. Previously home to G&K Shoe Co., the three-story 10,260-square-foot property is the last building in its mostly original condition on Main Street betweeen 6th and 8th streets.
Cushman & Wakefield Commercial Kentucky has been hired to sell the property for the owner.
G&K is located on historic West Main Street, which extends from 6th Street to 8th Street. The buildings here are notable for their length and floor-load capacities, as they were originally used as warehouse spaces. A major feature of these buildings is their cast-iron facades.
The area is now home to restaurants, 21c Hotel, office users, residents and museums.
