Each year, Midwest Real Estate News inducts a new class in its Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame. Last year — despite the challenges it brought — was no exception. Here’s a look at one of our newest Hall of Fame members, Tammy Babisch, senior vice president and director of real estate management with the Milwaukee office of Colliers.
Tammy Babisch, senior vice president and director of real estate management services at Colliers|Wisconsin has more than 31 years of commercial real estate experience. In her role, she has grown the Colliers portfolio by 100 percent in just three years and now oversees the largest third-party management company of office space in the Milwaukee market.
Overseeing nearly 50 management professionals who handle 11.6 million square feet of real estate across southeastern Wisconsin, Babisch brings an unmatched amount of experience and expertise managing Class-A downtown office assets.
“I have always been driven by a simple philosophy of ‘wanting to make the world a better place,’” Babisch said. “Initially, property management didn’t always seem like the most direct way to create meaningful change in our world, but I have come to realize that the impact you can make on the population of people that work in your building is profound.
“You are directly responsible for the safeguarding of people’s lives and indirectly have an impact on the success of their business and livelihood. In a literal sense, you impact the day-to-day experience for people who work in the properties you manage, and on a larger scale those properties have a huge impact on your local community in terms of economic value and job creation.”
Babisch has served in a variety of senior roles in asset and property management, with portfolios including Class-A, CBD high-rise, medical office, luxury multifamily and industrial properties. The portfolios Babisch has worked on during her career span the Midwest and have exceeded $6 billion in value.
Babisch holds both the CPM and RPA designations, is a LEED AP, a licensed real estate advisor and has served multiple terms as a board director of BOMA-Wisconsin and is an active board member for the Downtown Business Improvement District #21.
Highly regarded by her peers, Babisch holds the reputation as an industry leader. She truly values the relationships that she has developed with clients, owners, tenants, vendor partners and colleagues.
“Many of my closest friends are those that have been developed within the real estate community, and it truly makes working together so rewarding,” said Babisch.
When she’s not in the office, Babisch loves the outdoors and is an avid golfer and hiker. She also enjoys the arts, including theater and live music.
“Time spent with family and friends doing any of these activities is truly my happy place,” Babisch said. “And I’m looking forward to being able to experience more of these activities in the coming year.”
