Each year, Midwest Real Estate News inducts a new class into its Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame. Last year, despite its challenges, was no exception. Here is a look at the career of one of our new inductees, Barry Chavin, managing director with the Milwaukee office of Newmark.
Barry Chavin joined Newmark in 2019 as a managing director in the firm’s Milwaukee office. A leader of the Milwaukee industrial segment, Chavin focuses on representing tenants and buyers in the sale and leasing of existing buildings. He also assists clients in the development and marketing of major business parks.
Chavin joined Newmark following its acquisition of MLG Commercial, where he had worked for more than 30 years, becoming a principal there in 1998. He has experience selling, leasing and acquiring all types of commercial real estate. Chavin has also been involved in all aspects of the development process, including land identification, acquisition, planning, approvals and marketing.
Among his professional achievements, Chavin is a 12-time winner of the Sales Associate of the Year award from MLG Commercial. He also was named REALTOR of the Year by the Commercial Association of Realtors Wisconsin in 2011 and is a four-time winner of the CARW Deal of the Year award. The Milwaukee Business Journal has named Chavin a 40 Under 40 Award winner.
Through his affiliations, Chavin has aligned himself with some of the top professional organizations in commercial real estate. These include membership in the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors, National Association of Realtors and Commercial Association of Realtors Wisconsin. He served as chairman of CARW in 2009 and is a former president (2014) of SIOR ‘s Wisconsin chapter.
Chavin earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He serves as a member of the University of Wisconsin Alumni Association.
