Reed Construction has completed the expansion of Lake Behavioral Hospital in Waukegan, Illinois. Architectural services were provided by Legat Architects.
US HealthVest tapped Reed last year to complete the project, which included re-purposing an existing, four-story medical office building and constructing a new, 60,000-square-foot addition. Now spanning 90,000 square feet in total, the hospital includes a new outpatient treatment space, full kitchen and recreational areas.

Kozlowski led the project, joined by senior superintendent Chuck Knapp, project manager Austen Stephens and project engineer John Kruer.
The hospital features the latest design methods including high-abuse board drywall, anti-ligature fixtures and state-of-the-art security measures. Reed utilized BIM coordination and a LEAN construction approach in order to meet an aggressive 11-month schedule. Lake Behavioral Hospital is now one of the largest freestanding inpatient and outpatient mental health and addiction treatment hospitals in the country.
