Family-owned McLeod Express is expanding warehousing services with a new 611,000-square-foot facility in Decatur, Illinois. Contegra Construction is building the facility and will complete the project in June 2025. The building will be the second warehouse that McLeod operates out of Decatur, Ill.
Over the years, McLeod Express has realized an increased demand for warehousing space in the Central Illinois market and will use this new facility to better service their long-term customers going forward. McLeod chose to expand very close to their existing operation which is conveniently located about a mile from the I-72 exchange and three miles from the Midwest Inland Port in Decatur.
The warehouse is emerging from a 37-acre site at 3960 East Mound Rd. in Decatur. It is being constructed of tilt-up concrete panels, will include a 36-foot clear height, LED lighting and a TPO roof. The facility will host 56 dock doors including four drive-through doors. It will include dock levelers and truck restraints as a safety feature to hold the trailer in place as it is being off loaded or loaded. Parking will be available for 63 cars and 64 trucks. The building will also host a two-story, 6,000-square-foot office space.
