West Star Aviation, Inc. is expanding its maintenance, repair and overhaul facility at St. Louis Regional Airport in East Alton, Ill., by 67,000 square feet. Edwardsville, Ill.-based Contegra Construction, Inc. is serving as general contractor.
Contegra is constructing a new 47,300-square-foot hangar, an attached 12,800-square-foot two-story office and a 6,000-square-foot accessory repair shop.
The expansion boosts the company’s footprint at East Alton from 250,000 square feet to 317,300 square feet. Founded in 1947, West Star Aviation has operated at the site since 2004 when it bought Premier Air. It now employs 300 people who service an array of corporate and private jets.
Slated for completion in the spring of 2014, the project is valued at $5.8 million.
