Cressy Commercial Real Estate has retarted construction of Benton Harbor Flats in Benton Harbor, Michigan, after a delay resulting from the coronavirus pandemic.
The project, originally scheduled for completion by fall of 2020, is now expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2021. Originally built in the 1880s, Benton Harbor Flats is a mixed-use, two-story building located at the corner of Main Street and Pipestone Street in downtown Benton Harbor.
Cressy Commercial Real Estate is executing a complete rehabilitation of the building, including interior renovations and a restoration of the original brick façade. The 20,000-square-foot project will feature two commercial spaces on the first floor and 16 apartments.
“This project would not have been possible without the leadership and partnership of Cornerstone Alliance, the City Council of Benton Harbor, the office of Mayor Marcus Muhammad and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation,” said Chris Fielding, chief executive officer of Cressy Commercial Real Estate.
