Members of the business community joined East Peoria city officials, council members, tenants and area brokers March 15 to celebrate the official opening of The Levee District in downtown East Peoria.
Cullinan Properties Ltd., developer of The Levee District, hosted the event at 400 W. Washington St., to kick-off a weekend of grand opening festivities held at the center. The ribbon cutting ceremony featured a choral performance by East Peoria High School students, special remarks from Sen. David Koehler and East Peoria Mayor David Mingus, tenant announcements from Cullinan executives, and concluded with site tours by the Cullinan leasing team.
New tenants will join the center, anchored by Costco, Target, Gordmans, ULTA Beauty and Ross Dress for Less. Joining the center in a space next to Red Robin is Potbelly Sandwich Shop. Both Potbelly and Red Robin are on schedule to open this summer.
Another addition to The Levee District is GNC, a global specialty retailer of nutritional products. They will occupy space at 414 W. Washington St. at the Levee District, and plan to open May 8. GNC is headquartered in Pittsburgh and has more than 4,800 retail locations throughout the United States with franchise operations in 46 international markets.
The Levee District encompasses more than 86 acres that when complete, will include 500,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, as well as office, hotel and civic components.
