This is an exciting time to do business in Milwaukee. Just ask Dan Jessup, head of the new Milwaukee-area office opened in early October by Jones Lang LaSalle.
Not everyone is a fan of Wisconsin governor Scott Walker, who earlier this year survived a much-publicized recall effort in the state. But Jessup points out that Walker is strongly pro-business.
And that makes opening a new commercial real estate office near the state’s biggest city a smart move, Jessup said.
“We are seeing a lot of activity from tenants and owner-occupants who in the past had not considered the Milwaukee market,” Jessup said. “These people are now considering this market because of its pro-business approach. As a result, we’re seeing some solid growth here.”
Jones Lang LaSalle in early October expanded into the Milwaukee area with the opening of its new corporate office in suburban Brookfield, Wis., just outside the city. Jessup, a veteran of the Milwaukee-area commercial real estate market, is leading the new office, while fellow broker Michael Streit will join him. Both Jessup and Streit are joining Jones Lang LaSalle after stints at APEX Commercial Realty.
The pair will be jumping into business quickly. Among the team’s first assignments is overseeing leasing and property management efforts for four office buildings totaling 350,000 square feet in Waukesha and Brookfield. A private Midwest-based real estate investment company owns the four buildings.
“I am very excited about this opportunity,” Jessup said. “To have the chance to grow Jones Lang LaSalle’s platform in Wisconsin is a great honor. I welcome the chance to expand upon what Jones Lang LaSalle has already done in this market.”
