Last year, Midwest Real Estate News published its first Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame issue, in which we profiled the most important commercial real estate professionals in our region. Since then, we’ve run these profiles on our Web site. This time, we take a look at the inspiring career of David Hardy with CB Richard Ellis|Louisville.

Name: David Hardy Position: Managing Director Company: CB Richard Ellis|Louisville Location: Louisville, Ken.

Few know Louisville as well as does David Hardy.

Hardy, managing director of CB Richard Ellis|Louisville, has sold commercial real estate in the Kentucky city for more than two decades. And during this time, he’s established himself as one of the city’s top commercial dealmakers.

A list of Hardy’s client list is all the evidence you need to understand just how big of a player this real estate veteran is in his market. Hardy claims such big-name clients as AT&T, IBM, Ford Motor Company, Allstate, Sprint and United Parcel Service on his list of satisfied customers.

What’s Hardy’s secret? It’s nothing unusual: He outworks his competition. He constantly studies the Louisville market. He returns phone calls quickly, treats his clients with respect and follows through on his promises.

In other words, Hardy is a professional. And that’s something that his clients appreciate.

“I’ve never met anyone who’s had a bad experience working with David Hardy,” said one nominator. “He never takes shortcuts or cuts corners when working with clients. It’s helped him earn the great reputation that he currently enjoys in the Louisville market.”

An office specialist, Hardy has handled the sale of many of his market’s top buildings. He’s also represented clients who have leased more than 2 million square feet of office space in more than 80 local buildings. That’s called having a major impact on the business landscape of a city.

Hardy’s talents have served CB Richard Ellis|Louisville well. Under his direction, the firm earned a spot on Business First’s “Fast Fifty” list, a list devoted to the fastest-growing companies in Louisville, in 2004, 2006 and 2007. Inc. Magazine also listed CB Richard Ellis|Louisville as a member of its Inc. 5000, a list devoted to the country’s fastest-growing private companies. CB Richard Ellis|Louisville made this list in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

In addition to his accomplishments on behalf of his firm, Hardy has also earned several other important honors during his career. In 2007, for instance, Midwest Real Estate News selected him to its 40 over 40 list of the top real estate professionals over the age of 40. He also served as president of the Commercial/Industrial Division of the Greater Louisville Association of Realtors from 2000 through 2002. He is also a past president of the Kentucky CCIM Chapter.

It’s safe to say, after studying Hardy’s long list of accomplishments, that Louisville’s business landscape would be quite different if it weren’t for the deals that he has closed and negotiated during his career.
