Grocery store Mackenthun’s has selected DBS Group to design and build a new ground-up 48,000-square-foot Mackenthun’s Fine Foods grocery store within the Woodland Cove subdivision in Minnetrista, Minnesota.
DBS Group is a design-build firm based in Rochester, Minnesota, and Onalaska, Wisconsin. Mackenthun’s Fine Foods, based in Waconia, Minnesota, is a family-owned grocery store that has been in business for over a century. The Minnetrista location will be the fifth-generation grocer’s fourth store location.
Mackenthun’s purchased approximately 20 acres within the 500-acre Woodland Cove subdivision. In addition to the Mackenthun’s Fine Foods, the development will also house a 148-unit luxury apartment and a future public safety building. A 2.17-acre outlot remains available for development, which is currently offered by Transwestern and is considered an ideal location for a childcare facility, restaurant and professional services user. The grocery store will anchor the development, serving the entire community while attracting tenants and visitors to other properties planned for the development.
The new Mackenthun’s store will feature The Cove Wine & Spirits and Caribou Coffee, a larger deli, comfortable seating areas for customers and self-checkout stations. It will also offer customers an extensive range of fresh, organic and locally-sourced products that support local growers.
