Reagan Pratt, a senior executive with more than 30 years of corporate and institutional commercial real estate experience locally, nationally and internationally, has been named the Douglas and Cynthia Crocker endowed director of the Real Estate Center at DePaul University (The Center). The announcement was made by Tom Berry, chairman, department of finance and real estate, DePaul University.
As the director, Pratt is responsible for building and expanding The Center through outreach to the real estate community, in Chicago and across the U.S., and advancing its reputation and stature. Pratt also joins the faculty at DePaul and will teach a variety of classes within the graduate and undergraduate level real estate programs, with an emphasis on finance, capital markets, and investments.
In his new role, Pratt oversees the day-to-day operations of the center; maintains the public profile of the Center through participation in academic and professional associations; facilitates placement and internship opportunities for students and alumni; develops and implements professional seminars and conferences for the real estate industry; creates and implements an agenda for funded research opportunities for faculty; and maintains relationships with sponsors and prospective sponsors.
Throughout his career, Pratt has held various senior and executive level positions for firms such as BentallGreenOak (BGO), Harrison Street Securities (and its predecessor, Transwestern Securities Management), Heitman Financial, and Waypoint Residential. Most recently, Pratt was an independent consultant.
From his experiences at those companies, Pratt has developed an extensive background in capital formation, client service, direct property investing, product design, REIT investing, quantitative modeling, research, risk modeling, development, and forecasting. Further, with experience in all major aspects of real estate investment management, he is well versed in public and private capital markets, debt, and equity.
Pratt earned a B.A. degree from the University of Guelph, in Ontario, Canada, with a double major in economics and urban geography. He also earned a Master of Science in Business Administration from the University of British Columbia with an emphasis on urban land economics.
