Detroit’s Bedrock names former Cleveland Browns executive vice president as CEO

Kofi Bonner, former chief administrative officer with the NFL’s Cleveland Browns, will become chief executive officer of Detroit-based Bedrock as of Sept. 31.

Bonner has led complex development projects in large cities during his career. As co-chief operating officer at FivePoint Holdings in Irvine, California, Bonner led the entitlement and development of the San Francisco Shipyard and Candlestick Communities.

Last year, Bonner focused on real estate development and technology projects in the San Francisco area and Ghana through his own firm, Bonner Enterprises. He also invested in BC Pay and Techgulf, financial tech firms that provide technology operations to West Africa.

Bonner was the executive vice president and chief administrative officer of the Cleveland Browns for seven years. He was the first African American to hold this title in the NFL. He started his career as the affordable housing developer for Oakland Community Housing Inc.
