Capitol Park Lofts, an 80,800-square-foot, 11-story building at 1145 Griswold in Detroit’s Capitol Park neighborhood, has welcomed its first residents.
Detroit-based Kraemer Design Group, PLC served as the architecture and design firm for Capitol Park Lofts, working with developer Karp and Associates and Prater Development, and construction manager Buildtech to complete the approximately $30 million renovation.
The building was originally high-rise retail and office space. Built in 1912, the historic building now houses 63 residential rental units, from studios to two-bedroom apartments. The property features a rooftop deck and an updated elevator system, as well as a pedestrian bridge to connect the seventh-floor corridor to a nearby parking structure.
The units in Capitol Park Lofts include in-unit washers and dryers, stainless steel appliances, Quartz countertops and porcelain tile flooring. Units range in size from 486-square-foot studios to 1,196-square-foot two-bedrooms. Monthly rental rates begin at $998.
In addition to residential space, 1145 Griswold is also home to the new Prime + Proper restaurant, positioned across the building’s basement and first floor, which opened to the public last month. This restaurant concept was designed by McIntosh Poris.
