An estimated 150 people attended a groundbreaking ceremony July 21 for The Foundry, Treystar‘s newest redevelopment project in Kalamazoo, Michigan at 600 E. Michigan Ave.
A number of community partners and governmental leaders helped mark the occasion which included the unveiling of The Foundry’s logo and site plans and the announcement that CSM Group will be the project’s anchor tenant.
In addition to signing on as the first public tenant, CSM Group serves as the construction firm for the project which will transform a once-defunct metal foundry into a mixed-use property.
Site plans for the approximately 53,000-square-foot finished project revealed at the groundbreaking include suites, a shared plaza and patio along the river, and an on-site restaurant designed to appeal to those who are energetic and rooted in continual community growth, forward-thinking, and successful but not satisfied.
Treystar worked with Kalamazoo’s LKF Marketing to create a logo and tagline for The Foundry which Brown also unveiled at the event.
A nod to the properties former use as a metal foundry, the logo includes an anvil. The imagery also lends itself to the property’s capacity to be molded into a reimagined form with a variety of uses.
With this exciting development, Treystar and its partners invite organizations and businesses to “Lose the Office. Find your Space.” As the official tagline for The Foundry, the phrase emphasizes Treystar’s desire to create work space that is a departure from a traditional office in order to create a sense of community, inspire collaboration, and incubate shared success.
In addition to Brown and East, speakers at the event included U.S. Rep. Fred Upton, State Sen. Margaret O’Brien, State Rep. Jon Hoadley, Kalamazoo City Manager Jim Ritsema, and Michigan Economic Development Corporation Regional Director Sarah Rainero.
Treystar’s Fritz Brown serves as the project’s Development/Leasing Manager. Robert Brown of Treystar is overseeing development of The Foundry.
An estimated completion date has tentatively been set for July 2017.
