Steven Bernstein, director of workplace solutions at Faithful+Gould, will moderate a panel on the future of workplace design at “Startup Chicago: Designing for Chicago’s Growing Companies,” an event hosted by the Chicago Chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services to be held May 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the East Bank Club in Chicago.
The program will feature panelists including representatives of a design firm, a life-sciences incubator, a commercial real estate company and a healthcare media firm. Panelists will discuss the role of Chicago as one of the fastest-growing hubs for entrepreneurship, technology and startup companies, and the ways that workspace in the city is evolving to meet the needs of growing companies.
The discussion is intended to give attendees an end-user perspective on the building search and build-out process, “must have” amenities and alternatives to the traditional office setting.
As the director of workplace solutions, Bernstein has helped clients plan more than 1 million square feet of commercial office space, most notably GSK’s new headquarters building at the historic Philadelphia Navy Yard. Bernstein’s particular area of expertise is in helping clients adopt “agile” working environments that feature an open floor plan and shared work stations for all employees, without physical barriers.
