Change is coming to downtown Milwaukee in the form of a new entertainment district and a new arena for the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks. And these changes are attracting plenty of new retailers and restaurants to the city of this Midwest city. The latest new arrival? The Hyatt Place brand of hotel.

Janko Hospitality, a Chicago-based company that operates hotels throughout the Midwest, on June 26 opened a new Hyatt Place hotel at The Brewery in Milwaukee.

Hyatt Place Milwaukee/Downtown, a 150-room, six-story hotel, is located one block from Milwaukee’s developing entertainment district and the Milwaukee Bucks arena, which is now under construction.

Jennifer Terpstra recently joined Janko Hospitality to serve as director of sales for the new hotel. Terpstra recently served as director of sales and marketing for a Crowne Plaza hotel before joining Janko.

The hotel is located on the eastern edge of Milwaukee’s Brewery District, the former home of the Pabst brewing complex, at 800 W. Juneau Ave. It is the first Hyatt Place in downtown Milwaukee and the first Milwaukee hotel operated by Janko Hospitality.

The hotel boasts more than 1,700 square feet of meeting space and an oversized fitness center on its first floor. The sixth floor features raised ceilings in hallways and rooms as well as raised showerheads, designed for athletes taking advantage of the hotel’s proximity to the new Bucks arena.

The hotel’s operator is well aware of how important the new Bucks arena will be. According to a press release announcing the hotel’s opening, the backdrop behind the registration desk features basketball net-inspired backdrop. Basketball-themed artwork also decorated the guestrooms.
