Draper and Kramer, Incorporated announced that Shruti Kumar, a senior property manager with the firm’s multifamily property management division, has been appointed to serve on the 2017 Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) Chicago Governing Council as secretary.
Currently, Kumar is senior property manager of Lake Meadows Apartments, where she oversees 1,869 rental units in the mixed-use community that includes four high-rise and five mid-rise towers on 70 acres in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood. Located between 31st and 35th streets, east of Martin Luther King Drive, the apartments offer city, park and lake views, and easy access to downtown Chicago via Lake Shore Drive.
IREM is an international community of real estate managers dedicated to ethical business practices, maximizing the value of investment real estate, and promoting superior management through education and information sharing. Kumar will begin her four-year commitment to serve on IREM Chicago’s Governing Council in October. Her one-year term as secretary will lead to serving as treasurer in 2018, president-elect in 2019 and president in 2020.
Since January 2016, Kumar has been a volunteer with IREM Chicago, involved in assisting the governing council in member outreach, providing job shadow opportunities to property management students, planning IREM events and interviewing CPM candidates.
Kumar joined Draper and Kramer in 2008 as a property manager of high-rise buildings. Previously, she was a property manager with Finger Companies and A and R Katz.
