Tim Kramer, vice president and director of operations, management services, with Chicago-based Draper and Kramer, Incorporated was elected president of the Apartment Building Owners and Managers Association (ABOMA) during the Chicago-area nonprofit’s annual meeting Dec. 5.
Kramer, the great-grandson of Draper and Kramer co-founder Adolph Kramer, leads operations across Draper and Kramer’s national portfolio of multifamily communities, including more than 4,700 units under management in Chicago in addition to properties in St. Louis, Dallas, Austin, Phoenix and Denver.
As president of ABOMA, which represents ownership and management of over 500 multifamily member buildings in the Chicago area, Kramer will oversee the organization’s efforts to support members by facilitating industry idea exchange, advising on personnel and legislative matters, engaging in labor relations/collective bargaining, and promoting member welfare through education, networking, and advocating for their interests in public matters.
Kramer was a long-standing member of ABOMA’s board prior to his appointment as president and previously served as the organization’s vice president.
In addition to his involvement with ABOMA, Kramer is very active with the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) as a national director and international instructor. He has also served on the organization’s governing council, ethics inquiry board, ethics hearing and discipline board, ethics committee, and the Real Estate Management Excellence Awards advisory board. He holds IREM’s Certified Property Manager (CPM) and Accredited Residential Manager (ARM) certifications.
Kramer is also an Ely Chapter member of Lamda Alpha International, a global land economics society.
Kramer first joined Draper and Kramer in 1993 as a leasing consultant and subsequently served as property manager and property operations specialist before being promoted to his current position in spring 2019. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from the University of Phoenix and has completed additional executive education in operational management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management.
