Sterling Bay is partnering with local landmark cinema, Davis Theater, and the cinema arts non-profit, Facets, to launch The Drive in at Lincoln Yards, a family-friendly movie series that will take place this summer at 1684 N. Throop in Lincoln Yards, Sterling Bay’s 55-acre mixed-use development along the North Branch of the Chicago River.
Beginning Thursday, June 25, The Drive-In at Lincoln Yards will show one modern classic movie every Thursday – Sunday night at 8:30 PM, with audio transmitted through cars’ AM radios. To kick the series off, The Drive-In will feature a showing of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, with more programming to be announced in the coming weeks.
“As the city gets back on its feet and Chicagoans look to find new, socially-distant ways to enjoy the summer, we’re excited to create a safe and comfortable way for residents to reconnect with each other and support small local businesses,” said Andy Gloor, CEO of Sterling Bay.
The Drive-In at Lincoln Yards has engaged neighboring food and beverage venues to provide guests the opportunity to purchase pre-packaged items, including Ada Street by DMK Restaurants and Mellos Peanuts & Popcorn.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenging time for all of us, so I am pleased to have worked with Sterling Bay to deliver a fun outlet for Chicagoans to enjoy during the summer evenings, while also supporting local businesses,” said 2nd Ward Alderman Brian Hopkins. “I look forward to sharing this fun and welcoming experience with residents and families from across the city, all summer long.”
All of the proceeds from the Drive-In will benefit the Davis Theater, Facets and participating food and beverage venues.
