DTZ has partnered with 1871, a non-profit, Chicago-based hub for digital start-ups, to sponsor the Real Estate Technology Incubator space in the new 25,000 square-foot expansion of 1871’s space in the Merchandise Mart as part of a broad sponsorship and partnership arrangement.

In addition to its efforts with real estate, 1871 has previously announced efforts in the food technology space, as well as efforts involving fostering opportunities for women and veterans in technology.

Executive Vice President Steve Schneider and Senior Vice President June Simonian led DTZ’s participation with venture capitalist and business start-up specialist Howard A. Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of 1871. The new incubators were formally announced by Mr. Tullman at a press conference held on June 17 with Governor Pat Quinn, flanked by several entrepreneurs and founders that got their start at 1871.

As a sponsor, DTZ will be working cooperatively with 1871, its member companies and the offices of the Mayor and Governor to help further the growth of Chicago business and achieve 1871’s long-range goal of driving change through innovation and the application of new and emerging cutting-edge technology. The collective goal is to cement Chicago as a major technology hub for the world.

DTZ already has growing business relationships with some of 1871’s start-ups as a result of interactions related to this sponsorship and is looking to develop relationships with even more companies as the term of the deal continues.
