The Chicago office of Duke Realty is building a new, 543,780-square-foot spec bulk warehouse in Romeoville, Illinois. The building, which is known as Airport Logistics Center I, is located on Renwick Road between I-55 and I-355 and just minutes from Lewis University Airport. The 76.46-acre site on which the building is located allows for an expansion of the building to 1.3 million square feet, additional car or trailer parking or the construction of a second building.
“Airport Logistics Center I is ideal for users serving the Chicago metro area as well as the rest of the country,” said Susan Bergdoll, vice president of leasing and development for Duke Realty in Chicago. “The building’s mid-point location between I-55 and I-355 and its proximity to I-80 provide ready access to the Chicago metro area and enable deliveries to more than 50 percent of the United States within a one day’s drive. Plus Airport Logistics Center I will include the latest features for efficient product storage and distribution.”
Slated for delivery in July 2019, Airport Logistics Center I will feature 36-foot clear height, 53- x 50-foot bays with 60-foot staging bays, 81 dock doors and parking for 125 trailers and 335 cars. To facilitate truck and car access, Renwick Road is being widened to accommodate an eastbound turn lane. Lewis University Airport, which is located five miles north, offers corporate jet access.
In addition to Airport Logistics Center I, Duke Realty owns and manages another 15 buildings totaling 4.5 million square feet in the high-demand I-55 submarket that are more than 95 percent leased.
