Loaves and Fishes has purchased a 30,000-square-foot building near its Naperville, Illinois headquarters, to expand its support of local families’ food needs.
Coincidentally, their new satellite building is next door to a 20,000-square-foot building occupied by Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), where volunteers pack meals for distribution to schools, clinics and orphanages. Both buildings were owned by partnerships controlled by Brit Properties until the sale of the larger one to Loaves and Fishes this month for about $2,300,000.
“It feels like destiny that these two non-profits will be neighbors, each with its own mission to help provide food to the people who need it most in these challenging times,” said Joel Friedland, a principal of Brit Properties.
The close proximity to Loaves and Fishes’ current headquarters and warehouse in Naperville was an important factor in the purchase. The new property at 580 Exchange Court, also met certain physical requirements of Loaves and Fishes, including its loading docks and ample parking for up to 90 cars.
