EYP Energy in February merged with The Weidt Group, a building-energy consulting firm based in Minnetonka, Minn.

The merger made sense for both companies. EYP Energy boasts 30 years of energy-related service. The Weidt Group operates four offices, in Minnesota, Colorado, Iowa and Wisconsin. Both companies will complement each other.

“Energy efficiency represents a core growth market for EYP Energy, and The Weidt Group is the nation’s top provider of consulting services for that market,” said EYP President and chief executive office Tom Birdsey.

“Clients don’t hire firms; they hire experts,” said Tom McDougall, president of The Weidt Group. “Both EYP Energy and The Weidt Group employ many of the nation’s most respected professionals. Working together, the possibilities are endless.”
