Writing and drawing supply company Faber-Castell USA Inc, has selected its new headquarters, a 143,000-square-foot office and distribution center in Independence, Ohio.
Since 1999, Faber-Castell USA has been headquartered in Cleveland, as a result of the purchase of Cleveland-based company Creativity for Kids. Faber-Castell has 85 employees that will be joining them in their new facility, with plans to add an additional 15 new jobs with the move.
The new headquarters, being built by owner/developer DiGeronimo Companies, is a 260,000-square-foot high-cube Class-A complex at 9000 Rio Nero Drive. Faber-Castell USA is the anchor tenant, occupying more than half of the building, and 117,000 square feet is still available with an expected August 2023 delivery.
The site selection began in October of 2021 and included local, regional and national alternatives, but was not met without obstacles, most notably, the lack of available product. That, combined with turbulence in the market related to increased construction costs, material availability and increasing interest rates, resulted in complications for a seamless move-in that wouldn’t interrupt ongoing operations.
To aid in site selection, Faber-Castell USA enlisted Joseph V. Barna of Cushman & Wakefield | CRESCO Real Estate. He is representing Faber-Castell and will be representing ownership in leasing the balance of the development.
