NEXT Apartments is one step closer to completion. Developer Fifield Cos. topped-off the 28-story luxury apartment tower in Chicago’s River North neighborhood March 15 in front of a crowd of more than 50 guests.

Construction on the project began in June 2015 with an original completion date scheduled for early 2017 but with the crew’s speedy progress, first move-ins are now scheduled for September 1.

Among those in attendance at the topping-off ceremony were members of the development team, including Patti McHugh of general contractor McHugh Construction, George Papageorge and Brian Kidd of principal architect Pappageorge Haymes and Shea Soucie of interior designer Soucie Horner Ltd., as well as representatives from Citizens Bank, The Private Bank and Ullico, the project’s lenders.

Following the topping off ceremony, guests toured NEXT’s custom leasing trailer, designed as a replica apartment showcasing the top-of-the-line kitchen and bath finishes at NEXT.

The building will include an outdoor pool, spa and sun terrace, complete with cabanas, a fire pit and outdoor grilling kitchens with pergolas and seating. Other amenities include a state-of-the-art fitness club with an indoor/outdoor yoga studio; media room with oversized TV with surround sound; full demonstration kitchen; Starbuck’s coffee bar; gaming arcade; business center and conference room; and a “bicycle kitchen” that will offer residents bicycle storage, supplies, tools and air pumps.
