Firsel Ross attorneys named to 2021 Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch list

The law firm of Firsel Ross announced that two of its attorneys have been recognized as “Ones to Watch” in the 2021 Best Lawyers award listings. Jessica T. Cooper and Karen Jerwood are associates at the Bannockburn, Illinois firm, specializing in commercial real estate law.

“We are proud to have these two highly regarded lawyers as part of our team at Firsel Ross,” said founding partner, Michael Firsel. “The skills and dedication of all our attorneys enables our boutique firm to offer the highest quality legal services for our clients.”

Cooper’s legal practice encompasses all aspects of commercial real estate, including the acquisition, financing, leasing, disposition and zoning of commercial, industrial and multi-unit residential properties. She has extensive experience in handling transactions from their inception, routinely working with title companies to resolve complex title issues, through closing. Her comprehensive experience includes the development of condominium projects. During her time at Chicago-Kent College of Law, Cooper worked as a certified mediator in Cook County.

Jerwood focuses her practice on real estate transactions, representing parties in transactions that include the development, financing, acquisition and disposition of commercial real estate, including restaurants, medical office buildings, retail, office, vacant land and multifamily projects. She also has substantial experience representing landlords and tenants in retail and office commercial leasing transactions. Prior to joining Firsel Ross, Jerwood worked as a commercial title underwriter at a title company in Chicago. While completing her legal education at DePaul University College of Law, she held a judicial internship at the Circuit Court of Cook County in its Mortgage Foreclosure and Mechanic’s Lien section.

The Best Lawyers: “Ones to Watch” awards recognize outstanding lawyers who have been in private practice for less than 10 years in the United States. Awards are based on peer nominations and reviews, “reflecting a consensus opinion of leading lawyers about the professional abilities of their colleagues within the same geographical area and legal practice area.”
