Designed by Blue Star Properties, new renderings show the refreshed look coming to River City Apartments in Chicago’s South Loop. Respecting architect Bertrand Goldberg’s original vision for a live-work-play environment, the renovations include a full redesign and renovation of the lobby and front entrance as well as an updated and modern community space named “River Road.”

“River City Apartments offer a unique combination of iconic architecture and modern updates. From quartz countertops and custom closets in the units and a more connected lobby and common area, these South Loop apartments provide today’s renters every amenity paired with easy access to the Loop, public transportation and cultural attractions,” said Aaron Galvin, CEO and founder of Luxury Living Chicago Realty, the brokerage leasing the property.

Additional community amenities will include multiple lounges and co-working spaces, a party room, an acre of outdoor space with lush landscaping, outdoor grilling stations, bocce ball, shuffleboard courts and a convenient dog run. Leasing begins in February and first move-ins are anticipated in March, with prices ranging from $1,595 per month for studios up to $3,395 per month for three-bedroom duplex townhomes.

“We are excited to see what the new owners have in mind for River City. We love the location and uniqueness of this building, it has so much potential,” said Lisa Hernandez, a current River City Apartment resident. “We’re looking forward to seeing our amenities like the lobby and River Road restored and modernized.”

In December 2018, a joint venture among The Wolcott Group, Marc Realty, Ruttenberg Gordon Investments and funds managed by Elliott Management Corporation purchased River City from the River City Condo Association. The 449-unit acquisition was the largest condo deconversion in Chicago history.
