Steve Wasilowski, chief operating officer of FitzGerald Associates Architects has announced his retirement effective July 31, 2018. Under his leadership, FitzGerald improved internal controls, weathered the Great Recession and expanded into new markets. He has been instrumental in positioning the firm for a great future as it approaches its centennial celebration in 2019.
After more than twenty-five years in banking, construction and real estate development, Wasilowski joined FitzGerald Associates Architects in 2005. His resume includes twenty years with The Northern Trust Company where he was vice president in the commercial real estate department, construction lending experience at The First National Bank of Chicago and construction management experience with Blount Brothers Corporation of Montgomery, Alabama.
Wasilowski earned a bachelor of architecture degree from the University of Wisconsin. He has been active in public service and volunteer service in his home community of Elgin and in Chicago. Wasilowski has chaired the finance and building committees at School District U-46, is a past-president of the Realty Club of Chicago and is the membership chair of the Ely Chapter of Lambda Alpha International. A private pilot, Wasilowski enjoys flying sail planes and his restored 1948 Luscombe.
