Forte Real Estate Partners has been selected to manage a historic former streetcar maintenance facility built by Twin Cities Rapid Transit Company in 1914.

This property, now owned by Concrete Properties, is a 182,000-square-foot industrial/warehouse property at 2500 Washington Ave. N in Minneapolis.

Adjacent to I-94, North Side Station features a two-story wing that faces Washington Avenue North. The first floor was previously used as offices for the foreman and clerk, locker rooms, a storage room, and a paint shop.

The second floor functioned as a “men’s club” and included a pool room, reading room, and sleeping rooms for use by employees. Behind this two-story portion of the building was the one-story streetcar garage used for maintenance. In 1953-1954 an addition to the North Side Station converted it into a bus garage after years of mixed bus and streetcar use.

The property was sold in 1970 and again in 1984 when it was acquired by Concrete Properties. It is currently occupied by 11 tenants including Cemstone, a sister company of Concrete Properties, and a mix of automotive, woodworking/custom cabinetry, wholesale distribution, catering, equipment rental, manufacturing, and retail carpet sales.

The 1914-built portion of the building is listed with the Minneapolis Historic Preservation Commission.

Chad Thomas, senior vice president-Property Management, is managing the property on behalf of Concrete Properties. Forte Real Estate Partners manages more than 1.5 million sq. ft. of commercial office and industrial properties across the Twin Cities and was ranked on the Business Journal’s Top 25 Property Management Firms.
