The Obama Foundation issued a request for proposals to four construction management teams for the Obama Presidential Center.
An emphasis on diversity and inclusion were set as the foundation chose major minority-owned firms to submit proposals. Those firms include Clark Construction Group, Lakeside Alliance, Power Mortenson Partners, and W.E. O’Neil Construction company.
Each of these teams are required to submit further information on how their best practices align with the Foundation’s mission of civic engagement and commitment to diversity.
“We have set high standards for our finalists to meet – from contracting, to detailing who they will employ, and to the innovative hiring programs they will develop for young people. While we recognize that our goals are ambitious, we also believe that change cannot happen without setting the bar high,” said Roark Frankel, Director of Planning and Construction for the Obama Foundation.
Construction on the is slated to begin in late 2018 and the construction manager is expected to join the project team before the year’s end to provide pre-construction services such as cost estimating, constructability reviews, value engineering and logistics planning during the project’s remaining design phases.
