Freeborn & Peters LLP, one of Chicago’s preeminent litigation firms, has signed a letter of intent to occupy a new 36-story office tower located at 151 N. Franklin St. in the city’s downtown Loop district. The firm anticipates making the move from its current location at 311 S. Wacker Dr. sometime in 2018. In the meantime, Freeborn is negotiating details of an anticipated 15-year lease with the developer, John Buck, and plans to occupy floors 19 to 23, totaling between 82,000 to 90,000 square feet.
“We’ve been at our current location almost 23 years, and it’s served us well,” said Lou Bury, Freeborn’s Executive Director. “This is a great growth opportunity for us and is indicative of our focus on the future of our clients, the firm, and its attorneys and staff. We’re looking forward to expanding in the new space.”
Mr. Bury says the efficiency of the building’s layout will enable the firm to add more attorneys to continue to help service clients. Freeborn also plans to take advantage of the development’s unique “green” features. The tower is designed for LEED Gold Certification and will enable each tenant to control and monitor real-time energy usage with a cutting-edge web-based property management system.
Completion of the new building is expected to occur by the third quarter of 2017.
