Gerace Construction Co. has received an Outstanding Construction Safety Performance Award by the Association of General Contractors of Michigan.
The Midland-based general contractor received a Gold Award from AGC of Michigan, its third award for safety over the past four years. As part of its annual recognition of safety achievements, AGC of Michigan compares the injury incident rates of general and specialty contractors throughout the state.
The injury incident rate is based on the number of injury cases a firm experiences compared to the total amount of work hours generated.
“We are very pleased to be recognized by AGC for our commitment to safety,” said Tom Valent, president and CEO of Gerace Construction. “Our goal is to have zero accidents and injuries on the job. We provide continuous safety training to our employees, as well as the proper equipment, so that they have the tools and the training to do their jobs safely.”
During 2014, Gerace Construction worked on 140+ projects in – and beyond – the Great Lake Bay Region, including the Rivers Edge Development in Bay City, hydro-electric plants and water treatment plants throughout Michigan, and numerous other new construction and rehabilitation projects. The company reported zero lost-time work incidents over the past two years.
