Gilbane Development Company announced the development of a new student housing community, Octave, at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Scheduled for fall 2019 occupancy, the project is located two blocks from the University of Illinois campus at 210 S. Fourth Street in Champaign, Illinois.
The two-building, 538-bed complex features fully furnished accommodation, in-unit washer and dryer and keyed bedroom entry for more privacy. Other amenities include Wi-Fi throughout the property, a 24/7 fitness center, student lounge, business center with free printing, a game room, individual/group study rooms, coffee bar, bike storage, rooftop terrace, package room and covered parking. A resort-style pool features an outdoor kitchen and a fire pit area with lounge seating.
Octave is the first of five communities that Gilbane is developing around the country, including projects in Tempe, Arizona; Corvallis, Oregon; Towson, Maryland and Kennesaw, Georgia. The developments will deliver over 3,500 beds near the campuses of five major universities within the next two years.
