How expensive is it to rent an apartment in Chicago? Well, it’s not cheap. According to research from home and apartment rental search site Zumper, Chicago ranked as the ninth most expensive rental market in the country in February.
Zumper said that the median one-bedroom rent price hit $1,670 in Chicago in February, which was actually down 2.9 percent when compared with January. Of course, prices varied by neighborhood, with the Near North Side featuring the highest rents in February. Zumper reported that a one-bedroom apartment rented here for a median price of $2,000 last month.
Other costly neighborhoods included The Loop ($1,960 median rent for a one-bedroom apartment in February), Near West Side ($1,910), West Town ($1,840) and Lincoln Park ($1,750.)
