An official ground-breaking ceremony for Kansas City’s ARTerra multifamily building was held Aug. 10 with construction equipment already moving in the background.
ARTerra is a 12-story luxury residential building that is the first high-rise apartment building to be built in the Crossroads Arts District area of downtown Kansas City. The project is being jointly developed by Altus Properties of St. Louis and Copaken Brooks of Kansas City.
More than 50 people attended the afternoon reception despite the August afternoon heat. Remarks were made by Jon Copaken, principal at Copaken Brooks; Josh Udelhofen, managing director, development at Altus Properties; and Tim Dunn with JE Dunn Construction.
Located at 21st and Wyandotte Streets, ARTerra, which means “art of the earth,” was designed to integrate into the historic Crossroads skyline while also creating a new visual beacon for the District. The building will feature 126 state-of-the-art residential units, consisting of a mix of studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, first floor retail, an integrated parking garage and best-in-class amenity spaces including an infinity pool overlooking Liberty Memorial, Penn Valley Park and the Arts District, as well as a 12th floor amenity suite offering unparalleled views of the Kansas City skyline. Project completion is anticipated in late 2018.
