Earles Architects and Associates has completed the design for a 28,000-square-foot office space at 333 S. Wabash Ave., Chicago, Ill, for Akuna Trading.

Construction has started and should be completed by year end. Akuna Trading is moving from 36 S. Wabash Ave., Chicago.

EAA worked closely with Akuna Trading to configure the layout of the office, including the trading desks and support spaces, to help the growing options trading firm work more efficiently. The firm has 90 traders and 60 developers who rely on multiple television monitors and computers to complete trades throughout the day. The office was designed with a sophisticated technology platform to support the data and electrical needs of the firm.

Among the unique architectural elements in the space are: a private phone room, complete with soundproofing; a large break room with ping pong and billiards tables; and a large, open floor plan with room for multiple computers and monitors per employee

Each of the distinct spaces in Akuna Capital’s 26th floor features a set of finishes that complements the use of that particular space.  The phone rooms utilize sound absorbing felt wall covering, for example.

As a way to enhance key spaces such as the elevator lobby, reception and break room, EAA utilized parametric 3D modeling programs to generate ceiling cloud and signage wall features.
