Henry Bros. Co. has begun construction of a new affordable senior housing facility, Senior Suites of Bellwood, for Senior Lifestyle Corp., one of the country’s leading senior housing providers.

Designed by NORR Illinois, Inc., HBC is constructing the much needed 4-story, wood-frame, 90,710 square foot, 89 unit, energy efficient facility on a 2.5 acre site in the heart of Bellwood, Illinois, just 13 miles from downtown Chicago. When finished, the secure building will feature one- and two-bedroom units, a 10,000 square foot community room, dining room, lounges, fitness center and other amenities geared toward independent seniors.

Henry Bros. Co. was selected by Senior Lifestyle Corporation, to work as an integral part of the project team not only for construction expertise, but also for critical preconstruction capability. HBC collaborated with the client in during the QAP submittal process providing early cost, schedule and other construction related information, to facilitate an award for tax credits. Moreover, the provided budgets took into account sustainability criteria in line with LEED certification to ensure environmental responsibility.

HBC is actively reaching out to the Bellwood community throughout construction of the Senior Suites of Bellwood. HBC has led the effort to meet HUD Section 3 and Davis-Bacon hiring criteria, and making a concerted effort to work with local vendors whenever possible.
