HGA Architects and Engineers’ office interior in the Ford Center in downtown Minneapolis has received LEED® 2009 CI Platinum. The interior fit-out received 85 of 110 points under LEED 2009 for Commercial Interiors by the U.S. Green Building Council®.

Sustainable highlights include adaptive reuse of the existing building, historic preservation of architectural details, window improvements that maintain historic appearance, salvaged and repurposed wood, natural daylight with daylight controls, low-flow plumbing fixtures, under-floor air-distribution system, occupancy-sensor lighting controls, and low-emitting and recycled-content materials.

HGA moved into the Ford Center in December 2011. The historic 1914 building, originally a Ford assembly plant that HGA renovated in collaboration with United Properties, received LEED Gold Core & Shell in December 2012 for its energy-efficient mechanical system, daylighting strategies, proximity to mass transit, and sustainable materials.

“Pursuing LEED Platinum aligns with our firm’s culture of excellence and sustainability,” said Patrick Thibaudeau, LEED Fellow and vice president of sustainable design at HGA. “The office exceeds our AIA Architecture 2030 commitment for green operations initiatives. HGA is focused on enriching the sustainability of our business enterprise and promoting a sustainability commitment to our clients and ourselves.”

The Minneapolis office is HGA’s third office nationwide to achieve LEED certification, following Milwaukee (LEED CI Silver) and Los Angeles (LEED 2009 CI Gold). The recently renovated Washington, DC, office is submitting for LEED certification.
