Hubbell Realty Company on Sept. 15 broke ground on the second phase of Melbourne Apartments, an apartment community located in Des Moines, Iowa. The second phase, an $8.165 million development, will add 62 affordable one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments to the area.
Attending the ground-breaking were Matthew Anderson, Des Moines assistant city manager; Troy Patterson, president of the East Des Moines Chamber of Commerce; and Rick Tollakson, president and chief executive officer of Hubbell Realty Company.
Phase 1 of Melbourne Apartments was completed in the summer of 2010. That phase included a clubhouse and three buildings totaling 84 units. These units are now 100 percent leased.
Phase II is projected for completion in early 2013.
Hubbell Construction services is building Melbourne Apartments. Hubbell Property Management is managing the property.
