Jim Schultz, CEO of the Illinois Business and Economic Development Corporation, announced the eight Illinois business leaders chosen to serve as the inaugural Board of Directors of the ILBEDC.

Those selected include: Inga Carus, chairman, Carus Group; Gloria Castillo, president & CEO, Chicago United; Angela Griffin, chairman, Illinois Economic Development Association; Sheila Hill-Morgan, president & CEO, Chicago Minority Supplier Development Council; James Reynolds, Jr., chairman & CEO, Loop Capitol; Carmen Rossi, founder & CEO, 8 Hospitality Group; Roger Tedrick, CEO, Tedrick Group; and Jim Wong, founder & CEO, Brilliant.

Schultz said the board’s members are committed to change the trajectory of this state and are serving because they want to see Illinois grow and take its rightful place as a global business center.

“By attracting, retaining and growing a multitude of businesses in this great state, we are ensuring that future generations will benefit from a stronger Illinois economy,” he added.

ILBEDC is a new approach to economic development in Illinois in order to adapt to the rapidly changing 21st century needs of businesses. In addition to Governor Rauner’s proposed structural reforms, Illinois will benefit from the recently created Corporation, which will assist the Department of Commerce in marketing the state’s many assets in order to encourage job creation and investment in Illinois, according to the corporation.
